(Exhausted and hungry as Scarlett is, she goes out to the open field, digging out the leftover radishes in the ground, swallowing.)
Scarlett: As God as my witness… as God as my witness, they’re not going go lick me. I’m going to live through this and when it’s all over. I’ll never be hungry again. No. nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat, or kill, as God as my witness, I’ll never be hungry again.
奥哈拉先生：上帝，是斯佳丽。我的女儿。

（斯佳丽又累又饿，她走到空地上，从土里挖出几个刨剩下的萝卜，狼吞虎咽起来。）
